AbstractO presente trabalho avalia o emprego da energia radiativa do fogo (ERF) para estimar as emissões de aerossóis carbonaceous (material particulado com diâmetro menor que 2,5µm PM2,5µm) e monóxido de carbono (CO) para o período de queimadas na América do Sul. Utilizaram-se os dados provenientes dos produtos do MODIS: MOD14/MYD14 e MOD04/MYD04; e o produto derivado do satélite GOES: WFABBA (Wildfire Automated Biomass Burning Algorithm) para estimar os coeficientes de emissão baseados na ERF para o satélite GOES e para calcular o total de gases e aerossóis emitidos para a atmosfera. Através do modelo de transporte CCATT-BRAMS (Coupled Chemistry-Aerosol-Tracer Transport model coupled to Brazilian Regional Atmospheric Modelling System) simulou-se a emissão, transporte e deposição de CO e de PM2,5µm provenientes da queima de biomassa. Resultados do modelo foram comparados com os dados de campo obtidos nos experimentos do LBA (Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere) SMOCC (Smoke, Aerosols, Clouds, rainfall, and Climate) e RaCCI (Radiation, Cloud, and Climate Interactions). ABSTRACT: The main objective of this work is to use the fire radiative energy (FRE) to esteem the carbonaceous aerosols (particulate matter with diameter less than 2.5 μm) and carbon monoxide emissions for the South America burning season. The MOD14/MYD14, MOD04/MYD04 from MODIS and WFABBA from GOES products were used to estimate the total amount of gases and aerosols emitted to the atmosphere. The FRE estimates of emission of gases and aerosols were modeled using CCATT-BRAMS and evaluated from LBA SMOCC/RaCCI field experiments.
